Quarter 1, Week 7 - Communicative Part 3

 

This week we reviewed further about communicative style. We had a spelling bee about an unfamiliar word that can help us to our English understanding. The spelling word we discovered are dysfunctional, bookkeeper, neophyte, novice, indict, etc. We also learned about the Anglo-American Literature Icon Hellen Adams Keller, she born on June 27, 1880, and died on June 1, 1968. Hellen Adams Keller was an American author, lecturer, etc.

Hellen Adams Keller was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, she died at the age of 87. She lost her sight and hearing at the age of 19. We also discover the inventor of the phone Alexander Graham Bell. We learned a new figure of speech which is Litotes. Litotes is an ironic understatement in which an affirmative is expressed by the negative of its contrary. We also gave examples about Litotes. We discuss our learning task and performance task, especially on doing our blogs for us to be creative in doing it.

Quarter 1,Week 6 - Communicative Styles Part 2

 

We learned about a new Anglo-American Literature Icon know as Mark Twain but his real name is Samuel Langhorene Clemens an American writer,publisher, lecturer, and an entrepreneur. Mark twain is also called or known as "The father of American Literature". We also learned about the figure of speech Onomatopoeia a figure of speech where the word is used to describe a sound. We discuss about Communicative Styles like casual, formal,consultative, frozen,intimate, and we review it. Mark Twain have many written books like his novel " The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1876) and it's sequel, " The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884).

We gave examples about the Communicative Styles and about the figure of speech we tackle this week. We also give more brief explanation to our lesson so we can understand it more. Mark Twain was born on Nov 30, 1835 and died on April 21, 1918 at the age of 74. 



Dialogue: Casual with 3 Colloquial with yellow highlight, 3 slang words with blue highlight, and 3 Jargon with pink highlight. 

Lia, Belaya, and Lucienne place a date for them to finally meet up after a month not meeting each other because of the pandemic. 

Lia: Hello! guys where are at now?

Belaya: Ohh... I'm sorry I'm gonna be late. (text) OTW ( on the way).

Lucienne: Ohh... we understand we'll wait for yah!

(Lia, Belaya, and Lucienne arrived and finally saw and meet each other....)

Lucienne: Y'all not gonna believe this!!...

Lia: What is it lucienne ?!?!...

Lucienne: Well uhmm... I got an honor this quarter!!!..

Belaya: Woahh!.. that's great, I wanna be honor to but how??

Lia: Belaya, we all know you can do it just keep it real...(Point to your heart)

Lucienne: I agree to lia, you're cool and great...

Belaya: Ohh.. BTW (by the way)...I got my new iphone!!!...

Lia: Ohh come on.... SML??...just kidding...

Lucienne: Guys I wanna tell you guys that we're going home late.... HaHaHaHaHa...

Belaya: Yahhhh!!!.... why didn't you check the time (laugh) .....

Lucienne: Ohh...sorry (laugh) sorry.... my bad...


And they all laugh and decided to go home cause it late.

Quarter 1, Week 5 - Communicative Styles Part 1

 Paragraph style:

We learn about Communicative styles, their types like Casual, Formal, Frozen, Intimate, Consultative. We also learned about the Anglo- American Literature Icon Charles John Huffam Dickens an English writer and a Social critic. Charles John Huffam Dickens novel and short stories are widely read today, he died at the age of 58. I  learned about the figure of speech Metonymy, a figure of speech which is the substitution of the name of an attribute or adjunct for that of thing meant. We also learned about the word Jargons that means special words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or group and are difficult for others to understand.



For me, the highlights of the discussion are the types of Communicative Styles. The learning tasks are easy to do and very understandable. We also do a spelling bee.

Quarter 1, Week 4 - Understanding Conditionals Part 2

 

Paragraph Pattern:

Our topic is about conditionals and it's types, we review what we learn and differentiate each type, we also give some examples in a sentence. For me the task are just okay ,it's easy to understand and I could see the improvement of my writing skills.

We learned a new Anglo-American Literature icon Joanne Rowling,also know as J.K Rowling and an British author who wrote Harry Potter. We also learned new word by the spelling assessment like plateau, epitome,etc. We learned an figure of speech, we discuss the figure of speech Irony. For me the highlights of the discussion is still the important, meaning and it's types  of Conditionals and how to identify them in a sentence.
